1:51.49

One Hour, fifty-one and 49 sec (official time). My goal was to go under 2 hours.

Better than I thought I would do. Really even pace. 8 laps of a 1.25 mile course on the Asbury Park, NJ boardwalk.

My PR for the race is 1:21:41 in 1995 (13 years and many pounds lighter ago)

From my watch: First 5 miles: 55:56
Second 5 miles: 55:54

First time I've done an even pace like that in a race. Although the last lap was more effort to maintain pace.

Next goal, lose 20 lbs and shave 30 minutes off the time. At least 20 minutes, one minute per pound.

Two days to go!!!

Day after Christmas and with all the hectic stuff that goes on with the holidays I finally got a day of training in.

Things have been mucho hectic around here. Flooded basement, father-in-law in the hospital for a few days.

Here hoping 2009 is a better training year. I'll be in a new age group and want to get back into racing again.

First Long Walk

First long walk outside. 1:40, An hour, forty minutes at an easy pace. Felt good to back on the roads. Temp was 61 today. That is mild for the Northeast USA tis time of the year. So, signs are good for at least finishing the 10 miler.

30/30 Plus

Been doing this workout arrangement several times a week. 30 minutes on the weight circuit then 30 minutes or more on the treadmill. Seems to be working out pretty good. Keep the heart rate up and insures that I don't over train on the treadmill.

Started easy on the treadmill and after 10 minutes increased the pace one mph each minute until 5 1/2 mph. Slowly getting back into form.

Here is a shot at a 40k Championship Walk on the old Fort Monmouth 2k loop. It is pre 2001 and the 9/11 attacks. They closed access to the base after that. Man does time fly. Leaner, meaner training days.

Don't know who took the photo. Probably Elliot Denman as he always has camera in hand and sends the photos out. Thanks Elliot.

Ronn Zinn 10 Mile Racewalk

Here is a photo of the 1988 Ronn Zinn 10 Mile Racewalk on the Asbury Park, boardwalk in New Jersey.

This photo is of myself and Edgardo Rodriguez. Edgardo was a great competitor and a lot of fun to race. The races on the boardwalk where always a fun race to do with a lot of history behind it.

20/20 - 20 on the treadmill and 20 one the bike.

Here is a photo I dug up and scanned of the 1988, 20 years ago and many pounds lighter. Of the Ronn Zinn 10 miler on the Asbury Park boardwalk. Not a bad time. Well see if I can ever get even close those times.

Ronn Zinn was a two time Olympian who was killed in Vietnam.

The photo was taken by Elliot Denman.

I'll be posting more photos at www.CurtSheller.com/photos.shtml
