My goal was to go under 2 hours.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Better than I thought I would do. Really even pace. 8 laps of a 1.25 mile course on the Asbury Park, NJ boardwalk.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My PR for the race is 1:21:41 in 1995 (13 years and many pounds lighter ago)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From my watch: First 5 miles: &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;55:56&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Second 5 miles: &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;55:54&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First time I've done an even pace like that in a race. Although the last lap was more effort to maintain pace.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next goal, lose 20 lbs and shave 30 minutes off the time. Seems to be working out pretty good. Keep the heart rate up and insures that I don't over train on the treadmill. &lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Started easy on the treadmill and after 10 minutes increased the pace one mph each minute until 5 1/2 mph. Slowly getting back into form.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here is a shot at a 40k Championship Walk on the old Fort Monmouth 2k loop. It is pre 2001 and the 9/11 attacks. They closed access to the base after that. Man does time fly. Leaner, meaner training days.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Don't know who took the photo. Probably Elliot Denman as he always has camera in hand and sends the photos out. Slowly going down. Planning on going back tonight for another 30 minutes or more.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Photo the left is me at the 1995 WAVA 20km World Championships. I was the third american in our age group and we took medal. I forget which one. I think gold.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The race was on the old 10 National course in Niagara Fall, NY, USA side. It was a really hot day and I went out really slow and passed a lot of walkers in the second half as most faded because of the heat.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I finished 8th in 1:52:13, 1st place team (USA)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Forgot to post about Saturday, November 22. But this time I have Jack Lach to thank. He has challenge me to do the Polar Bear 10 miler in Asbury Park, NY at the end of December. This my last change to get, at least one race in before I move into to the next age group January 2, 2009 when I'll be 55. I really don't want to miss another age group.&lt;div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This is a a great race that I remember well. I've had many a battle with fellow racewalkers. I've even won this race a few times. No hopes of that this time. But should be fun.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The photo to the left is me in my leaner racing days.
